Educational expert M/F

The IECD set up in Liberia in 2020 to implement actions in favor of employment. This project includes a “Rural Development” component, in support of agricultural producers in a county in Liberia, and a “Training and Vocational Integration” component, which is deployed in Monrovia, Buchanan and Tumutu, in Bong County.

On the Training and Vocational Integration component, the project's actions are in support of the national strategy for technical education and vocational training (TVET National Strategy).

As part of the implementation of this new project, the IECD is recruiting a Head teacher in Liberia to provide the necessary expertise for vocational training projects. These projects include:

  • Support for 8 training centers, including 3 private and 5 public, in 4 technical sectors (deployment of one training sector per year from 2020: electricity, agriculture, construction and a 4th sector: hotel/catering (HR);
  • Support for the authorities to set up a system for training trainers in technical and vocational education, within the public reference center for vocational training built by UNIDO in Kakata;
  • For each technical sector, the IECD has developed tools and methods in several countries (2 countries for the agricultural sector, 6 countries for the electricity sector).

 

The main activities of these projects will be:

  • Conduct market studies to refine the needs of the job market;
  • Update training programs (business-skills frameworks, training and assessment frameworks);
  • Support schools in the implementation of training: equipment, training and support for trainers;
  • Set up orientation and integration paths for young learners (including awareness of entrepreneurship);
  • Set up a personal development path for young people;
  • Strengthen the skills of the supervisory ministries (Ministry of Education and Ministry of Youth and Sports);
  • Implementation of a gender strategy at the level of each sector and training centres.

 

MISSION

 

Having as a referent the FIP Project Manager, your mission will be to help the team and the CdF partners to implement quality training.

 

1. Support ministries and partner schools in the implementation of a quality training offer
  •   Organize the updating of existing training courses;
  • Support the implementation of updated or created repositories;
  • Identify and mobilize the necessary external expertise;
  • Ensure the implementation of monitoring and evaluation of the training provided.

 

2. Ensure the quality of teachers' professional practices
  •   Design and coordinate a teacher training plan;
  • Organize and lead the pedagogical training of trainers;
  • Animate the reflection and the proposal of an initial training system for teachers of technical education.

 

3. Reporting
  •  Ensure the reporting of activities to the project manager, M&E and COM;
  • Participate in follow-up meetings with the financial partner.

 

PROFILE OF CANDIDATE

 

Training / Experience

  • Graduate studies in training engineering
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in teaching and/or pedagogical coordination and/or the reform of training courses
  • Professional training and/or higher education experience is desirable
  • Experience abroad will be an asset, as well as experience within the IECD organization
  • Knowledge of the Anglo-Saxon training system is another asset

  • Close collaboration with:
    – The IECD team in Monrovia: project managers and project managers by sector
    – The team of the FIP center in Paris: the educational manager of the IECD, the coordination team of the HR programs
    – Teams from the Liberian ministries (Ministry of Education and Ministry of Youth).
  • Job dates : September 2023, for 2 years
  • Location : Monrovia – Liberia
  • Contract conditions :
