Teaching and promotion of the French language

The 'Center for Language Enhancement' of the University of Rwanda provides different English courses, including general English (English for General Purposes), English for Specific Purposes (English for Specific Purposes), English for academic purposes (English for Academic Purposes) and scientific writing (Academic Writing). The first three courses are respectively taught to students of the first, second and third years of the undergraduate cycle of the University of Rwanda and the last to those of the second and third cycle. The center also offers French as a foreign language course to volunteer undergraduate students.

In addition, the Center for Language Enhancement administers TOEFL and GRE exams and offers English and French certificates to returning and new finalists from the University of Rwanda depending on whether they studied at one or the other. 'other language. It has also set up English and Kiswahili clubs to enable students who want to join to improve their communication in these languages. Likewise, the center plans to organize short training courses aimed at improving the level of English of anyone who wishes to do so.

 

Description

 

The center plans to offer training in French to the public, particularly to people who work in the tourism and hotel industry. Thus, French teachers, members of the 'Centre for Language Enhancement', are in the process of developing a French course for specific objectives appropriate to these two sectors. They have almost finished creating the course content for beginners and will soon begin preparing that for people with an intermediate level of French in this area.

 

Mission

  • Revise and improve the content of the two French programs mentioned above
  • Equip our French teachers with modern French teaching methods
  • Offer model lessons wherever possible
  • Assist teachers during teaching sessions
  • Prepare and organize placement tests

 

Training

  • Have at least a master's degree in French as a Foreign Language

 

Experience

  • Have at least three years of experience teaching French as a Foreign Language
  • Have the skills required to develop French as a Foreign Language teaching modules and to train French teachers

 

Languages

  • Master French
  • Having knowledge of English would be a major asset.

  • Communicate fluently in French
  • Have a team spirit and collaboration
  • Being able to adapt to varied contexts
  • be patient
  • Have determination in any work undertaken
  • Have a spirit of initiative and creativity

 

Other

  • With the help of the center's French teachers, initiate French clubs.
