Context:

The mission is part of the project Ecotourism and Heritage supported by the Sadev Foundation and the CADF diaspora association in the Comoros. This project aims to promote the natural and historical heritage of Grande Comore, through training in traditional construction techniques and the creation of a first long-distance hiking trail on the island of Grande Comore.

The objectives of the mission are to promote ecotourism hiking in the Comoros (organization of events, development and maintenance of trails, awareness of environmental preservation and local development), as well as to contribute to strengthening public health and promote disease prevention and health promotion initiatives within communities in Comoros.

The major health problems concern:

1) communicable diseases such as the fight against malaria, HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis and leprosy.

2) the fight against non-communicable diseases such as the prevention of high blood pressure, the fight against diabetes, cancer, etc.

3) prevention of childhood illnesses (extended vaccination program, water and hygiene, etc.)
