At the start of 2024, there is significant momentum in favor of the Armenian community, marked by initiatives marked by commitment, support for development, solidarity, and careful preservation of cultural and heritage wealth.
With the support of AFD, La Guilde is launching a specific call for microprojects for Armenia. Following the forced displacement of more than 100 Artsakhiots in Armenia, government mobilization and the incredible outpouring of solidarity from Armenian civil society provided shelter and emergency food aid to refugees from Nagorno-Karabakh. Now, it is crucial to encourage their long-term settlement, while offering vital support to the populations who welcomed them.
Support for reception, development of activities, support for small farmers and much more: The Guild is actively committed to encouraging and developing sustainable opportunities for these communities through initiatives carried out by French and Armenian associations. Associations responding to our call for projects will be able to benefit from the support and monitoring of Helene Ohanjanyan, based in Yerevan, as well as the expertise of the Microprojects division.
After the restoration of the al-Masfi mosque in Iraq as well as the rehabilitation and reopening of the Raqqa museum, La Guilde is working on the reconstruction of the Shikahogh bridge, nestled in the heart of Syunik, in the south of Armenia and representing the one of the oldest in the region. A strong symbol of culture and heritage, the renovation of this building illustrates our support for Armenia and its people, through the preservation of their history and identity.
Through the diversity of its actions in Armenia, ranging from volunteer missions, support for development initiatives, to the reconstruction of the Shikahogh bridge, we continue to build a sustainable and stable future for the Armenian populations.
